The Lexus GX will not impress you with technology or space or power or conveniences. It wont get a second look from fine dining patrons or a compliment from the 19 year-old hotel valet.

That’s because this truck is ancient, and slow, and has only recently learned how to speak CarPlay.

But (and this is a big one), the GX will be the SUV to get you to and from work comfortably every single day until you own the company (and still drive a GX). It’ll haul your toys on the weekends or take you to that campsite that’s daringly far beyond the google mapped roads.

The Lexus GX is also second nature to drive, which is more than can be said for many of the latest, must-reinvent-every-wheel luxury vehicles on sale. Want more A/C? Turn a dial. Need to go into reverse? Pull the mechanical gear lever back to R. Don’t think, just move your hands.

Reliability and ease of use ain’t sexy, and the GX’s age is a turn off for many shoppers (with good reason), but it’s also refreshingly simple and comfortable and dependable. That’s worth something…potentiality even $60K.
